Almost kinda finished? Sleeping beauty’s in Urban Couture btw ^_^
I’m writing a letter to James Cameron about a film idea that I want him to produce and direct, but no one else. I have no expectations that this letter will get anywhere, but I am very serious about this idea and I will be so upset if anyone else tries to do this any other way.
I want him to remake a live-action version of The Little Mermaid. Ariana Grande MUST play Ariel- she can sing incredibly, she’s small and adorable, and she has the gorgeous long red hair and big round eyes. Florence and the Machine needs to do the entire score, because Florence Welch knows how to make a song beautiful and powerful without the tension and drama of other movie composers. Then for the songs that Ariel sings (which will not change lyrically or melodically), Ariana and Florence should collaborate to do the songs justice. Flounder and Sebastian and the entire undersea world need to be as realistic as the Avatar world. And Eric’s kingdom needs to be either similar to Spain or Greece, AND Eric MUST have black hair (none of this blonde, English nonsense). The role of Ursula MUST be epic.
I have to stop coming across pictures like this.
I particularly like this one. Not just for the ridiculousness, but because the cool actually balances the ridiculous pretty well. I like Ariel with sleeves.
It started this past spring with The Little Mermaid (the really old animated Disney one with adorable characters like Sebastian and Flounder, and a memorable soundtrack.) Even though I hadn’t seen it since I was about four, I remembered all the words. I was so ridiculously happy to watch it again, although I would kill for hair as thick as Ariel’s…
Then this summer, the new pirates movie came out. They introduced a new character- Serena, the compassionate mermaid. As we were leaving the theater, my brother complained that they shouldn’t have kept cutting to the scenes with the mermaid and the religious guy. Because they were “boring.” Maybe they were too gooey for a boy to watch, but I like Serena. If she wasn’t a mermaid, her story would not have been so amazing.
And a few nights ago, I watched Splash. It’s pretty old, back when Tom Hanks was a no-name. But Madison the mermaid is perfect. Just perfect. To me, she is the most realistic mermaid from Hollywood- she doesn’t speak English, her hair hasn’t been trimmed, she’s true to old legends… Plus, I had no idea that Madison wasn’t a name until this movie. Now I realize that my cousin Madison is really named after the mermaid. That’s pretty neat, I think.
I should really look for more…
